Maximum
colours Back to top These pages are designed for use with basic equipment. However, the appearance does degrade somewhat if, for example, the pages are displayed on a screen which only uses 16 colours. Most computer displays nowadays are capable of 256 colours or more usually much more (64k or 16.7 million are common). But they are not always set to the maximum. We recommend that you set your display to the maximum number of colours (or maximum number of bits) possible. (This is not the same as changing the screen resolution, which is expressed as 640 by 480 pixels or 800 by 600 pixels, etc.) See tips.
Fonts Back to top Some fonts are easier than others to read on computer screens. Our pages are designed for Trebuchet MS (or alternatively Verdana) and Georgia. You may have these fonts installed already. If you dont, your system will choose appropriate alternatives. If you dont have them, you can download these fonts free (with instructions on how to intall them) from this free download site.
Browsers Back to top We recommend you use the latest version of Netscape or MS Internet Explorer or equivalent. You can upgrade from these sites: Upgrade
