The aim of the courses is to provide online training on matters related to international trade and WTO agreements to officials from developing countries. The first four courses in 2008 cover:

  • Introduction to the WTO (222 participants)

  • Technical Barriers to Trade (159 participants)

  • Agriculture in the WTO (157 participants) and

  • Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (94 participants).

The courses will last six weeks from 25 February to 4 April.

During the courses, participants will be guided by a course administrator based at the WTO. They will also enjoy online tutoring from WTO experts and an online Help Desk for technical support.

Course materials are accessed through a specially created web site. Participants will have many opportunities to chat live with WTO experts on various WTO topics. In the last week of the course, the Director-General of the WTO, Pascal Lamy, will have an online chat with the participants on the latest progress of the Doha negotiations.
