Aid for Trade Global Review 2024

"Mainstreaming Trade"
Geneva, WTO headquarters

26-28 June 2024

Background

This year’s Global Review takes place against the backdrop of many simultaneous challenges facing the multilateral trading system and development cooperation. In a world of multiple crises, trade, which has been an unparalleled catalyst for poverty reduction, is under pressure from multiple perspectives. Development cooperation is also challenged by an increasingly diverse range of calls for its use and pressure on public budgets post-pandemic.

Against this background the Global Review will discuss the role of Aid for Trade in supporting food security, digital connectivity and trade mainstreaming.

Successive Global Reviews have been instrumental in helping to galvanize support to address supply-side and trade-related infrastructure obstacles so that developing countries can derive maximum benefit from international trade.
