Biography — John Jackson

Professor John Jackson teaches International Trade Law at the Georgetown University and is Director of the Institute of International Economic Law.

Professor Jackson joined the Georgetown faculty after a distinguished career as Hessel E. Yntema Professor of Law at the University of Michigan. He has been a visiting faculty member at the University of Delhi in Delhi, India and the University of Brussels in Brussels, Belgium, a Consultant on Legal Education to the Ford Foundation, a Research Scholar at the headquarters of General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in Geneva, Switzerland, and a Rockefeller Foundation Fellow in Brussels, Belgium. Over the years, he has also advised the U.S. and various foreign governments, international organizations, and in 2000, served as chairperson of a WTO panel for a trade dispute settlement procedure. Among his more recent books are: The Jurisprudence of the GATT and the WTO: Insights on Treaty Law and Economic Relations; and The World Trade Organization: Constitution and Jurisprudence.
