The workshop will focus on the impact of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, on provision of professional services across borders and the challenges those service providers will face in the coming years. In this context, it will examine the legal and regulatory framework that governs data flows internationally, assess its relevance and effectiveness in the current fast-changing environment and analyse how international trade agreements could help in fixing appropriate disciplines. The session will also consider broader issues of principle such as the balance between the need to integrate trade and the data protection laws and right to privacy.
