WTO TRAINING COURSES

This year, the simulation will be on “Regional and Sustainable Trade”. The students will hold their negotiations, at the St Gallen University, in six separate committees before coming together to vote on the final declaration at the WTO on 20 April 2012. The final declaration serves as a summary of the committees' results and students will be assisted by WTO experts in concluding it.

Ten countries (US, EU, China, Brazil, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mexico and Argentina) will be represented during this simulation and the students will be given the opportunity to discuss their strategies with real WTO negotiators.

“The future of the WTO and the global trading system is in the hands of today's youth. We need to enhance their knowledge of global challenges and make them active stakeholders of the global trading system. As future leaders, young people will participate in the decisions taken to shape tomorrow's world. This is why this programme is more than valuable” said WTO Director General Pascal Lamy.
