The Workshop was organized by the Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation (ITTC) in cooperation with the Agriculture and Commodities Division (AGCD).  This specialized technical assistance and training activity was offered to capital-based government officials with direct responsibility in the preparation of notifications under the WTO Agreement on Agriculture. The objective was to enable Members to fulfil their notification obligations in a timely manner and to enhance the capacity of Members to participate in the review of notifications in the Committee on Agriculture.

The Workshop was a “level 3”, the highest level training activity, implemented within the WTO’s progressive learning framework.  At this advanced level, its purpose was to offer participants a hands-on experience with notification requirements and formats through practical exercises, case studies and group presentations.  In addition, it provided a platform to discuss best practices and specific technical issues Members may face in preparing and analysing agriculture notifications.  On the last day of the Workshop arrangements were made for the participants to meet in one-to-one sessions with AGCD staff to discuss any pending matters or questions concerning agriculture notifications.
