This workshop brought together more than 100 experts from specialized international organizations, the private sector, academia, civil society and WTO member governments to discuss the contribution of e-commerce and innovation to development and poverty alleviation. One of the points highlighted was the need for an increased awareness by governments in developing countries to learn more about the challenges and opportunities posed by e-commerce, especially the important role it plays in assisting SMEs increase access to domestic and international markets.
