WTO rules serve full Membership, says Director-general

Asked to comment on the US Steel Tariff issue, WTO Director-General Mike Moore said today that WTO rules exist to serve the full Membership.

“It is not appropriate for me to comment on issues or negotiate in public,” said Mr. Moore. “Our rules and good offices are always available. I have a policy of not commenting on individual disputes, no matter how large or small”.

“Of course, it is always preferable if issues are settled between Members. That applies to each and every matter of difference between Members”.
