The multimedia studio will generate audio-visual material for a number of different activities within the WTO. Public information activities and the website will be enriched through the addition of many more educational videos and interviews with visitors. The current online training activities will also benefit from the use of new technologies and audio-visual items. In addition, WTO officials plan to use the facility to increase contact with journalists, civil society, government officials and students through greater use of videoconferencing.

For media relations and interviews with the press, the studio is connected by fibre optics with the European Broadcast Union headquarters. This allows WTO officials to make appearances on television stations worldwide — enhancing the possibilities for communicating on WTO-related matters.
