Iceland offers CHF60,000 to the WTO training programme for the benefit of developing countries

Iceland has donated CHF60,000 to the Doha Development Agenda Global Trust Fund (DDAGTF), which brings its contribution to CHF285,000.

This donation will finance technical assistance programmes and training activities for developing and least developed countries as well as economies in transition. The aim is to better adapt their practices and laws to WTO rules and disciplines, improve the implementation of their obligations and enhance the exercise of their membership rights.

WTO Director General Pascal Lamy declared “I welcome this new donation which demonstrates Iceland's commitment to assist developing countries in fully benefiting from the multilateral trading system.”

Iceland Ambassador Kristinn F. Arnason stated “This contribution reflects Iceland's concrete and continuous efforts to make trade a tool for development and poverty reduction.”
