This donation will finance technical assistance programmes to assess developing and least
developed countries trade facilitation needs and priorities. Trade facilitation looks at how procedures and controls governing the movement of goods across national borders can be improved to reduce costs and burdens. It also allows trade flows to be as efficient as possible.

WTO Director General Pascal Lamy declared “I welcome Sweden’s contribution which is crucial to improve the trading environment of developing countries.”

Swedish Ambassador Marie-Claire Swärd Capra stated “This donation shows our strong determination to assist developing countries in strengthening their trading and economic capacity. Sweden will continue to contribute to the WTO trust funds with this goal at heart.”
