This donation will finance training programmes for developing Members and more specifically to least developed countries. These programmes will enhance their ability to analyze issues, assess their interests and participate effectively in the Doha Round negotiations. The program also provides them assistance in meeting their WTO obligations in specific areas such as SPS, agriculture, NAMA and trade facilitation.

“As a developing Member itself, China’s contribution demonstrates its commitment to help other developing Members fully benefit from the multilateral trading system and better integrate into the global economy” declared WTO Director General Pascal Lamy.

China’s Ambassador Sun Zhenyu stated “China is committed to help other developing Members participate fully in and take advantage of the multilateral trading system. This donation represents another concrete step taken by China in South-South cooperation.”
