This last contribution brings Spain’s total contribution to the WTO trust funds to CHF 4.5 million.

This donation will finance technical assistance programmes and training activities with the aim of enhancing their ability to participate effectively in the WTO negotiations and ensure they fully benefit from the results achieved during these negotiations. 

WTO Director General Pascal Lamy declared “I welcome this new donation which demonstrates Spain's continuing commitment to assist developing countries to participate more effectively in the multilateral trading system and to benefit more fully from integration in the global economy”.

The Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Alfredo Bonet Baiget, considers that this contribution is a concrete demonstration of Spain’s continuous support to developing countries, with the aim of increasing their trading capacity, expand their market opportunity through a better understanding of WTO rules and make trade work for development and poverty reduction.
