The objective is to enhance their ability to participate effectively in the Doha round of negotiations and ensure they fully benefit from the outcome of these negotiations.

“Germany’s contribution is particularly welcomed in this period of economic turmoil. It comes at an opportune moment as the 9th Ministerial Conference in Bali is looming. Germany’s generosity will play an important role in strengthening the capacity of developing countries to make full use of the multilateral trading system,” declared WTO Director General Pascal Lamy.

Germany’s ambassador Hanns Schumacher stated “Germany remains strongly committed and determined to assist developing and least-developed countries in order to participate in the multilateral trading system. Through strengthening the trading capacity of developing and least developed countries, the WTO’s technical cooperation funds play an important role in maximising their integration into the World trading system. Germany’s contribution to the DDAGTF for 2013 is a concrete expression of our continued commitment to create growth through trade and therefore to help combat poverty”.
