Sweden is contributing SEK 16,000,000 (CHF 2,245,600) to the Doha Development Assistance Global Trust Fund (DDAGTF) for 2013 to strengthen the effective participation of developing and least-developed countries in the Doha round of negotiations.

A second contribution of SEK 7,000,000 (CHF 962,220) will be allocated to the Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) to help developing countries establish and implement sanitary and phytosanitary standards (SPS) towards health protection and increase their ability to gain or maintain access to markets.

Another contribution of SEK 2,000,000 (CHF 283,300) will go to the Trade Facilitation National Needs Assessment to identify key areas for further simplifying the movement of goods across borders in developing countries.

“Sweden’s donation will play a critical role in helping developing countries and LDCs to strengthen their capacity, thereby facilitating their integration into the world trading system ”, declared WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo.

Sweden’s Ambassador, Joakim Reiter, stated that “these contributions underline Sweden’s continued and strong commitment to support developing countries in their efforts to become fully integrated in the global market place and use the potential of trade to achieve sustained economic growth and poverty reduction.”

These contributions bring Sweden’s total contributions to the various WTO Trust Funds since 2002 up to SEK 294,300,000 (CHF 40,505,000).
