This donation will finance a wide range of trade-related technical assistance activities aimed at helping developing and least-developed countries (LDCs) to strengthen the effectiveness of their participation in the Doha round of negotiations.

“I welcome Chinese Taipei’s donation to enhance the participation of developing countries in the Doha Development Round and the work of the WTO. This generosity will help developing countries to make full use of the multilateral trading system,” said WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo.

The Minister of Economic Affairs of the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu, Dr Chia-Juch Chang, stated: “As a WTO member committed to the establishment of a fair, predictable, rules-based international trading system, we urge all members to actively respond to the particular needs of developing countries and LDCs by helping them to integrate further into the multilateral trading system. It is in this spirit that I am pleased to announce today our donation of USD 200,000 to the Doha Development Agenda Global Trust Fund for use in the WTO’s various development programmes.”
