“Germany’s new contribution is very welcome. It will play an important role in enhancing the trading capacity of developing and least-developed countries, supporting their integration into the global economy,“ declared WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo.

Germany’s ambassador Joachim Rücker stated: “Germany has continuously supported the Doha Development Agenda Global Trust Fund (DDAGTF) to assist developing and least-developed countries in participating in the multilateral trading system. Through these contributions, Germany demonstrates its commitment to help these countries strengthen their trading capacities. The DDAGTF plays an important role in accelerating and maximizing integration into the world trading system, thus adding to economic development through trade. It is in this spirit that I am pleased to announce today Germany’s donation of EUR 1 million to the DDAGTF for use in the WTO’s various development programmes.”

Since 2002, Germany has donated to WTO’s various trust funds a total of CHF 22,972,000.
