This ‘level 3’ course is organised primarily to address SPS implementation issues in Member countries and is targeted at government officials from WTO Member and Observer countries who have concluded an online ‘level 2’  SPS eLearning course and work directly on SPS related matters. 

Over the next three weeks, participants will be engaged in hands-on training on SPS-related matters, ranging from addressing national implementation issues to the identification of SPS-related market access difficulties.  In addition, they will be expected to elaborate an action plan to address implementation and/or market access difficulties encountered in their countries.  Reports on these actions plans will be made at a follow up session scheduled to take place in 2014. 

Attendance at the SPS Committee Meeting and a ‘Workshop on SPS-related Market Access Challenges and Opportunities’, will expose participants to the day to day work of the SPS Committee.  Additionally, this will provide an opportunity for networking and experience sharing with WTO experts, delegates as well as experts from other international organizations active in SPS related matters including among others, the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the International Plant Protection Convention and World Organisation for Animal Health.
