Subject: Uruguay Round Negotiating Group on MTN Agreements and

Arrangements, Informal Meeting Concerning the

Agreement on Government Procurement

A further informal meeting dealing with the Agreement on Government Procurement will be held on Tuesday, 26 June 1990.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. and will be held in the Centre William Rappard. It is expected to continue the clarification of, and the exchange of views on, proposals made in the Negotiating Group, i.e.

MTN.GNG/NG8/W/9, MTN.GNG/NG8/W/47, and MTN.GNG/NG8/W/70. It is also expected to discuss how to proceed further with negotiations and drafting.

At the meeting of the NG8 on 1 June 1990 its Chairman gave a relatively detailed report on the informal meeting which was held on 21 May 1990. In his statement which will be reproduced in MTN.GNG/NG8/18,

(item D) it was recalled, inter alia "that it would be useful if delegations who had submitted proposals made further written precisions by the next informal meeting. A paper might also be useful concerning the formal relationship between a solution envisaged in the field of a possible

transitional mechanism and the Agreement itself".
