AGREEMENT ON INTERPRETATION AND APPLICATION

OF ARTICLES VI, XVI AND XXIII OF THE

GENERAL AGREEMENT ON TARIFFS AND TRADE

DONE AT GENEVA ON 12 APRIL 1979

 

COMMUNICATION FROM THE UNITED STATES

 

 

In Notification of Acceptance GLI/271 of 17 May 1990 contracting parties were informed that the Government of Colombia had accepted the above-mentioned Agreement. In terms of paragraph 4 of its Article 19, the Agreement entered into force for Colombia on 6 June 1990.

I now have the honour to inform you that on 6 June 1990 I received from the Government of the United States, in accordance with paragraph 9 of Article 19 of the Agreement, the following communication:

"My authorities have instructed me to inform you, in your capacity as depositary of the Agreement on Interpretation and Application of Articles VI, XVI and XXIII of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (the Agreement) that, effective June 6, 1990, and until such time as the United States otherwise notifies the Director General, the United States does not consent to the application of the Agreement between the United States and Colombia".
