AGREEMENT ON INTERPRETATION AND APPLICATION

OF ARTICLES VI, XVI AND XXIII OF THE

GENERAL AGREEMENT ON TARIFFS AND TRADE

DONE AT GENEVA ON 12 APRIL 1979

 

COMMUNICATION FROM THE UNITED STATES

 

I have the honour to inform you that, further to the communication from the United States contained in GLI/271 of 19 June 1990, with regard to the acceptance of the above-mentioned Agreement by Colombia, I have received the following communication from the United States on 27 July 1990:

"My authorities have instructed me to inform you in your capacity as depositary of the Agreement an Interpretation and Application of Articles VI, XVI and XXIII of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (the "Subsidies Agreement") that, effective immediately, the United States withdraws its invocation of Article 19:9 of the Subsidies Agreement, entered on 6 June 1990. From this date forward and until such time as the Government of the United States of America otherwise notifies the Director-General to the Contracting Parties to the GATT, the United States will provisionally apply to Colombia all rights and obligations of the Subsidies Agreement."
