CONTRACTING PARTIES

Fiftieth Session

At their Forty-Ninth Session the CONTRACTING PARTIES agreed that the Fiftieth Session would be held in the week starting Monday, 5 December 1994, bearing in mind the possibility for the Chairman of the CONTRACTING PARTIES, in consultation with delegations, to fix the dates and the duration of the Session with greater precision in the course of 1994, and even to modify the dates if circumstances, such as the possible convening of a Uruguay Round Implementation Conference at the end of the year made this desirable. As contracting parties are aware, the period of 6-15 December has been established as the target for the Uruguay Round Implementation Conference, which will be the Preparatory Committee at Senior Officials level meeting on the occasion of a Special Session of the CONTRACTING PARTIES. Under these circumstances and in order to conduct the work efficiently, it is proposed that the 50th regular Session of the CONTRACTING PARTIES be held immediately following the Implementation Conference/Special Session of the CONTRACTING PARTIES. The precise dates will be established as soon as possible after the summer break.
