The Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu to contribute to LDCs’ participation at Hong Kong Ministerial

The Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu made a contribution of USD 20,000 to the trust fund established for the purpose of financing the participation of Least-Developed Countries (LDCs) in the 6th Ministerial Conference to be held in Hong Kong, China, from 13 to 18 December 2005. This donation, made on 25 October 2005, intends to give continuing support for the integration of the LDCs’ economies into the multilateral trading system.

“I thank The Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu for this contribution,” said Director-General Pascal Lamy. “An effective participation of members from least-developed economies in the negotiating scene is crucial at the Ministerial Conference. This Round is the Doha Development Agenda and development will be therefore at the centre of the talks”.

The Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu had also contributed CHF 37,500 and USD 27,500 to the same funds established for the 4th and 5th Ministerial Conferences respectively.
