Biography — Frederick Agah

Yonov Frederick Agah is Nigeria’s Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the WTO. Prior to his appointment, he served as Deputy Director (Multilateral) and Director (External Trade) during the period 1991-2005; and was responsible for the coordination of Nigeria’s participation in various trading arrangements under the auspices of the WTO, UNCTAD, WIPO, ECOWAS, AGOA, etc. He served as Chairman of the WTO General Council in 2011, and was responsible for the organisation of the MC8. He has also served as the Chairman of the following WTO Bodies: Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) in 2010; Council for Trade in Services (CTS) in 2009; Trade Policy Review Body (TPRB) in 2008; Council for TRIPS in 2007; and Council for Trade in Goods in 2006. He is presently the Chair of the Council for TRIPS Special Session. Ambassador Agah holds the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; MBA and PhD in International Trade from the University of Jos; and LL.B from the University of Abuja.
