A marketplace depicts many developing countries' MSME interaction – an open square in a town where businesses and enterprising individuals no matter how small interact with each other in a mutually reinforcing environment.

Several areas have already been identified where discussions at regional and multilateral level can achieve the objective of enhancing participation of MSMEs in global markets. These include transparency, data gathering, innovation, inclusive finance, logistics, and e‑commerce, among others. Each area cannot be taken in isolation.

A MSME marketplace shall aim to stimulate open discussions on MSMEs in a holistic manner, and further enhance and develop collective practical tools for MSMEs to participate in international trade. The session aims to bring together and help connect various efforts and the stakeholders – policy makers, business sector, the academe, innovation centres, funders, among others – to generate greater impact and reach of the work for MSMEs. The working session aims to generate an outcome document.
