This session will compare and contrast stakeholder consultation processes in trade policymaking with other approaches and practices conducted in other policy spheres (labour, Internet governance etc.). To do so, it gathers experts from IGOs, NGOs, the business community and academia to understand the opportunities and challenges that other international organizations have experienced while putting in place stakeholder consultation mechanisms. Experts will analyse inclusive forms of stakeholder consultation at different stages of the policy process, ranging from preliminary consultation (crowdsourcing, online consultation etc.) to monitoring and enforcement, with the aim of identifying best practices that can be transferred to international trade negotiations.
