This ICTSD / SAIIA session is devoted to sharing the results from SAIIA and the ICTSD's ongoing work on GVCs and sustainable and inclusive economic development in LDCs and LICs. Topics which will be addressed include the linkages between GVCs and sustainable development with reference to the UN SDGS, the relationship between GVC participation and gender outcomes, the opportunities and challenges faced by small players – whether countries, women or SMEs – in participating in GVCs and the type of trade and trade‑related policy change that could enhance the inclusive and sustainable development impact of GVCs.
