Lakeview Terrace, WTO

Stop funding overfishing

The Sustainable Development Goals are 17 interlinked global goals that are a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for people and planet. The WTO is central in achieving these goals and trade has a significant role to play by promoting sustainable development.

This exhibition is the fruit of a partnership with the Perception Change Project of the United Nations Office at Geneva and Fondation pour Genčve. It is part of the #YouNeedToKnow campaign to increase global awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals and to inspire people to take action.

It showcases the roles the WTO plays in order to achieve the SDGs under the Agenda 2030, in line with the commitment of the WTO laid down in the preamble of its founding treaty, the Marrakesh Agreement:

[The WTO’s] trade and economic endeavour should be conducted… while allowing for the optimal use of the world’s resources in accordance with the objective of sustainable development, seeking both to protect and preserve the environment…

We invite you to learn about what the WTO does to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs during this year's Public Forum. Join us!
