Summary of the meeting

DS252: United States — Definitive safeguard measures on imports of certain steel products

The US blocked China's first-time request for a panel, stating that the safeguard measures were fully consistent. China hoped that a panel would be established as soon as possible considering the loss its industry was suffering daily, and requested that this item be placed on the agenda of the next regular DSB meeting on 24 June 2002. EC and Korea briefly expressed disappointment at the US decision to delay the establishment of the panel.
