Ms Lilia R. Bautista (Philippines) and Ms Jennifer Hillman (United States) were sworn in today as Members of the Appellate Body at a ceremony at the WTO. Mr Giorgio Sacerdoti (EC), Chairman of the Appellate Body, administered the declaration undertaken by Ms Bautista and Ms Hillman.

Director-General Pascal Lamy congratulated Ms Bautista and Ms Hillman and said that they would bring a wealth of expertise and experience to the Appellate Body. The Chairman of the Dispute Settlement Body, Ambassador Bruce Gosper of Australia, welcomed Ms Bautista and Ms Hillman on behalf of all WTO Members, adding that they would bring all the professional and personal qualities to the Appellate Body that are needed for this very important and demanding office.
