They were: Mr Chang-fa Lo (Chinese Taipei), Dr Manzoor Ahmad (Pakistan), Mr Zhang Yuqing (China) and Mr Jeffrey A. May (United States). Their terms are considered to have started in spring 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, respectively.
The PGE is a body of five independent experts that may be requested to assist a dispute panel, provide an advisory opinion on the existence and nature of any subsidy, or be consulted by any member on the nature of any subsidy it intends to introduce or currently maintains.
The Chair, Mr Jun Kazeki (Japan), said that in his informal consultations, delegations agreed that the issue of vacancies was urgent and that all the candidates nominated were well qualified. He thanked members for their cooperation in finally resolving the long-standing issue of PGE vacancies.
