At the workshop, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) gave an overview of Aid for Trade flows in 2008. Aid for Trade commitments reached US$ 41.7 billion in 2008 - an increase of US$ 16 billion from the 2002-05 baseline.

The workshop was followed by the Committee on Trade and Development's (CTD's) Fifteenth Session on Aid for Trade.

The CTD discussed the 2008 Aid for Trade figures and highlighted the importance of demonstrating impact through monitoring and evaluation.

The European Union and the African Development Bank also gave presentations on their Aid for Trade activities.
