SHORT-TERM TRADE IN COMMERCIAL SERVICES STATISTICS

World exports of commercial services slowed sharply in the fourth quarter of 2011 — WTO and UNCTAD step up their cooperation in statistics on trade in services

According to preliminary estimates by the WTO and UNCTAD, in the fourth quarter of 2011, world exports of commercial services rose by 3% year-on-year (balance-of-payments basis, current price, not seasonally adjusted). This is significantly lower than the 12% year-on-year increase recorded in the third quarter.

Quarterly figures may not add up to annual figures published elsewhere in WTO or UNCTAD statistical publications or online databases. Quarterly data are released every three months.
