The Director-General said:

“I am delighted to be back in Nairobi. This is my first visit since the WTO's successful ministerial conference last December. The hospitality of the Kenyan government helped to bless our conference with success – and I wish the same good fortune for UNCTAD this year.

“As the global community looks at delivering on the new Sustainable Development Goals, International Organisations, as drivers of change and cooperation, have a vital role to play. WTO and UNCTAD have a long history of collaboration on this front, ensuring that countries can use trade as a tool to deliver for jobs, growth and development. I have no doubt we will strengthen this partnership this week.”
