The course in Guadalajara was organized by the WTO Chairholder for ITAM, Professor Bradly. It featured presentations by Maria Pereyra, Senior Counsellor in the Legal Affairs Division, and Dr Edna Ramirez Robles, Professor at the University of Guadalajara. The presenters also served as judges in a Moot Court, after which they delivered presentations on the WTO dispute settlement system to 60 students and professors at Tec de Monterrey. Presentations on the WTO dispute settlement system were also delivered to 40 students and professors at the University of Guadalajara. The three-day course concluded with a lunchtime talk on the WTO dispute settlement system hosted by the private sector in Guadalajara.
In Mexico City, Maria Pereyra and Dr Edna Ramirez Robles delivered a three-day advanced dispute settlement course at ITAM. The course was aimed at Mexican government officials, professors and students and focused on the practice of WTO dispute settlement with simulations to improve drafting and oral litigation skills. A roundtable discussion was led by Carlos Vejar (Holland & Knight), Mateo Diego-Fernandez (AGON), Bradly Condon, Maria Pereyra and Dr Edna Ramirez Robles, highlighting the challenges faced by the WTO dispute settlement system.
