“Japan’s contribution will enhance developing and least-developed
countries’ participation in the Doha Round negotiations. I thank the
Japanese government for its generosity. The WTO Technical Assistance and
Training Plan enables the Secretariat to assist developing countries in
exercising their rights as Members, and supports domestic efforts to
mainstream trade into national plans for economic development and
poverty reduction”, said WTO Director-General Pascal Lamy.
This latest donation brings Japan’s total contribution to the DDAGTF up
to CHF 5.3 million. Japan is at the moment the fifth biggest voluntary
contributor.
