Lithuania offers CHF46,087 to the WTO training programme for the benefit of poorer countries
Lithuania has donated CHF46,087 to the Doha Development Agenda Global Trust Fund.

This donation will finance technical assistance programmes and training
activities for developing and least developed countries as well as economies in
transition. The countries part of the Commonwealth of Independent States will
benefit from this programme in priority.
The aim is to better adapt their practices and laws to WTO rules and
disciplines, improve the implementation of their obligations and enhance the
exercise of their membership rights.
This contribution will be used in the Annual Technical Assistance and Training
Plans for 2006.
WTO Director General Pascal Lamy declared “I am very happy that Lithuania is
committed to support developing countries and help them improve their
participation in the multilateral trading system”.
Permanent Representative Albinas Zananavičius stated “ with this donation,
Lithuania intends to assist the poorest countries in better understanding the
WTO rules with the aim of expanding their markets”.
