This donation will finance technical assistance programmes and training activities for developing and least developed countries as well as economies in transition. The aim is to better adapt their practices and laws to WTO rules and disciplines, improve the implementation of their obligations and enhance the exercise of their membership rights.

This is the second contribution received from Estonia. In 2002, Estonia already granted CHF10,293 to the DDAGTF.

WTO Director General Pascal Lamy declared “I am very happy that Estonia continues to support developing countries to improve their participation in the multilateral trading system”.

Ambassador Tõnis Nirk stated “ Estonia will keep on assisting the poorest countries through the DDAGTF. Understanding the WTO rules is crucial for these countries to expand their markets and find new trading partners”.
