WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo said: “I welcome the European Union’s donation which will help to ensure that least-developed countries are able to participate fully in the WTO’s Ministerial Conference in Nairobi this December. The EU's continuous efforts are important to ensure that LDCs' voices are heard loud and clear in global trade negotiations.”

Marc Vanheukelen, EU Ambassador to the WTO, said: “The EU remains strongly committed to promoting the active participation of LDCs in the multilateral trading system, including at WTO Ministerial Conferences. Strong LDC representation in Nairobi will be an important element in making the 10th WTO Ministerial Conference a success.”

Since 2003, the EU has donated EUR 17,745,821 (CHF 19,184,972) to WTO trust funds.
