WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo said: “I welcome the United States' continued generosity in helping developing countries and LDCs to participate in global trade negotiations. This new donation reaffirms development as a core element of the multilateral trading system.”

U.S. Ambassador Michael Punke said: “Enhancing the ability of developing countries to fully participate in the many benefits of the multilateral trading system is an important U.S. policy objective.  Our contribution this year is part of our determination to create a hopeful future for the WTO and all of its members.” 

Since 2002, the United States has donated CHF 20,191,147 to WTO trust funds.
