WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo said: “This latest donation from Liechtenstein will help in ensuring that global trade negotiations support development — particularly for the WTO’s poorest members. I welcome Liechtenstein’s continued generosity.”
Liechtenstein’s Ambassador, Peter Matt, said: “In contributing to this fund, Liechtenstein aims to help developing and least-developed countries achieve economic growth through trade. Strengthening the trading capacity of these countries is essential to help them reap the benefits of the multilateral trading system."
Liechtenstein is the third donor to this fund in 2016. Earlier this year, the fund received contributions from Estonia and Austria. Overall, Liechtenstein has donated over CHF 500,000 to WTO trust funds in almost 15 years.
