More than 50 countries are in a position to join the WTO in the near future. Most of these countries are due to become members as soon as they have completed the verification of their market access and services commitments and/or upon the completion of their domestic ratification procedures for accepting the WTO. A number of other countries have already requested accession to the WTO under Article XII of the WTO Agreement.
