DEVELOPMENT: WORKSHOP — 23 OCTOBER 2013

Workshop on the effects of non-tariff measures (NTMs) on the exports of small economies

A workshop will be held at the WTO on Wednesday 23 October to examine the effects of non-tariff measures (NTMs) on the exports of small economies. The workshop aims to encourage discussion about how small states can better meet the various challenges which NTMs pose for exporters.

The Workshop is being held under the auspices of the Committee on Trade and Development in Dedicated Session and will feature presentations by representatives from the International Trade Centre, from UNCTAD and the WTO on recent research on NTMs and data base tools to help exporters identify which NTMs most affect their exports. Government officials will also present how their countries are going about assisting exporters or what infrastructural or administrative changes they plan to implement to meet the key NTM requirements of their trading partners.
