Information on Members' Technical Assistance activities and needs
This page contains available information on Members experiences with TBT-related technical assistance. In particular, it compiles documents submitted by donor Members on their technical assistance activities, voluntary notifications of technical assistance needs submitted by developing country Members, and information on the prioritization of technical assistance requirements drawn from a survey conducted by the TBT Committee to assist developing country Members in identifying and prioritizing their needs in the TBT field.

Angola

Armenia
Armenia submitted a voluntary notification on technical assistance
needs in 2006.
Australia
Australia has provided technical assistance in areas including
conformity assessment, metrology, documentary standards development and
accreditation. A substantial portion of Australia's TBT-related
assistance is developed on a regional basis, directly supporting: ASEAN
Consultative Committee on Standards and Quality (ACCSQ), APEC's trade
liberalisation and facilitation agenda, and the Pacific Forum Island
Countries' development of a Regional Trade Facilitation Program.

Canadian governmental agencies and the Standards Council of Canada have
provided technical assistance at the bilateral and regional level.
Issues that have been addressed include use of electronic means for
notifications, accreditation of laboratories and conformity assessment.

The European Communities
The development co-operation cycle of the European Communities starts
with a programming phase that leads to the development and adoption of
multiannual (typically five year) Country and/or Regional Strategy
Papers (CSPs and/or RSPs). Other components of the cycle are
programme/project identification, preparation and appraisal; and
implementation and evaluation of the programmes/projects. Supply of
technical assistance has been offered in areas such as metrology,
conformity assessment, accreditation, and quality assessment at the
global, regional and national level.

Japan
Japan has participated in technical assistance activities including
standardization and conformity assessment. At the bilateral level
modalities such as acceptance of trainees, dispatching of experts and
seminars have been used. At the regional level efforts have taken place
in coordination with APEC and its Members.

Jordan
