The Director-General said:

"Brazil is on a track towards full recovery, and the recent economic figures help to underline these positive prospects. Looking ahead, I am sure that trade and the work of the WTO can help support Brazil’s continued economic growth. I was pleased to hear from the Brazilian government about the importance of lowering barriers to open up and reinvigorate the country's economy.

"As a strong supporter of the multilateral trading system, Brazil has an important role to play in strengthening the organization and ensuring that it is responsive to the needs of its members. In the current scenario, with many uncertainties on the international stage, global cooperation remains essential to overcome economic challenges and maintain the stability, predictability and transparency of the trading system that serves us all".
