L'Accord sur la facilitation des échanges (AFE) de l'OMC exige des Membres qu'ils établissent et/ou maintiennent un comité national de la facilitation des échanges - ou désignent un mécanisme existant - pour faciliter la coordination interne et la mise en œuvre de l'AFE. Un échange de données d'expérience prévu pour le 8 juin à l'OMC vise à identifier les meilleures pratiques et les difficultés rencontrées par les Membres de l'OMC dans le cadre de l'établissement ou du maintien d'un comité national.

The programme is divided into five sessions: 1) Defining the purpose and mandate of the national committee; 2) Designing an institutional framework; 3) Strategies for defining a roadmap for the national committee; 4) Ensuring the proper functioning and long-term adaptability of the national committee; 5) How WTO members can request assistance for establishing or maintaining such committees.
The event will provide an opportunity for experiences to be shared by government officials and international organizations which have been involved in developing strategies for creating or establishing a national committee. It will be chaired by Amb. Esteban B. Conejos, Chairman of the Preparatory Committee on Trade Facilitation.
