AGREEMENT ON INTERPRETATION AND APPLICATION

OF ARTICLES, VI, XVI, AND XXIII OF THE

GENERAL AGREEMENT ON TARIFFS AND TRADE

DONE AT GENEVA ON 12 APRIL 1979

 

COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE UNITED STATES AND NEW ZEALAND

 

I have the honour to inform you that, further to the communication from the United States contained in GLI/271 of 29 March 1985, with regard to the acceptance of the above-mentioned Agreement by New Zealand, I have received the following communication from the United States on

17 December 1990:

"My authorities have instructed me to inform you in your capacity as depository of the Agreement on Interpretation and Application of Articles VI, XVI and XXIII of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (the 'Subsidies Agreement') that, effective 14 December 1990, the United States withdraws its invocation of Article 19:9 of the Subsidies Agreement, entered on 26 March 1985. From that date forward, the United States consents to fully apply the Subsidies Agreement as between the United States and New Zealand.

This communication supersedes the communication from the United States contained in GLI/271 of 29 March 1985."

I also have the honour to inform you that, further to the communication from New Zealand contained in GLI/271 of 21 September 1981, I received the following communication from New Zealand on 18 December 1990:

"My authorities have instructed me to inform you in your capacity as depository of the Agreement on Interpretation and

Application of Articles VI, XVI and XXIII of the General

Let/1730

Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (the 'Subsidies Agreement') that, effective 17 December 1990, the Government of New Zealand consents to apply fully the Subsidies Agreement as between New Zealand and the United States.

This communication supersedes the communication from New Zealand contained in GLI/271 of 21 September 1981."
