COP31 Finance and Trade Day
Trade Track: Harnessing Trade for Climate Action
The trade track of the COP31 Finance and Trade Day on 13 November 2026 will bring together global leaders, policymakers, businesses, international organizations, experts, and civil society to foster dialogue, strengthen collaboration, and accelerate practical climate action across key priority areas, including finance and trade.
The trade programme, organized jointly by the COP31 Presidency of Türkiye and the Turkish Trade Ministry, focuses on the role of trade and trade policy in enabling climate transition, with discussions centred on governments' experiences, practical solutions, international cooperation, and opportunities to align trade with climate objectives.
Through high-level dialogues and expert discussions, the track will aim to connect policy with practice and highlight approaches that can support a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive global trading system, and provide Türkiye, as COP31 Presidency, with an opportunity to showcase its own experience in advancing the green transition.

SESSION 1
Theme: Sustainable and low carbon Transitions, Resilient Value Chains and Inclusive Development
Specialized Event Zone No 3
The transitions to low-carbon sustainable economies require not only cleaner production and energy systems, but also more resilient, diversified and inclusive value chains. However, the opportunities and adjustment costs associated with the sustainable and low carbon transitions are unevenly distributed across countries, sectors and communities.
This session will explore how trade, investment and international cooperation can support these transitions and foster structural transformation that strengthens economic resilience, competitiveness and inclusive development for all. Discussions will consider pathways for industrial and land use decarbonization including through circular models that create new opportunities in sustainable agriculture, the bioeconomy and the blue economy, particularly for developing countries.
The session will also examine how affordable access to climate-relevant and other clean technologies, finance, skills and capacity building can enable countries and businesses to participate effectively in emerging sustainable value chains, creating opportunities for SMEs and local communities.
