WTO adds 10 new members as general council approves schedules for goods and services

The WTO gained 10 more members today following the approval by the General Council of their schedules of concessions on goods and commitments on services. The new members are listed below.

Botswana

Malawi

Central African Republic

Mali

Djibouti

Maldives

Guinea Bissau

Mauritania

Lesotho

Togo

The General Council also approved the schedules of 10 other countries which must still ratify the agreement establishing the World Trade Organization. Countries in this group are:

Angola

Haiti

Burundi

Mozambique

Chad

Rwanda

Gambia

Sierra Leone

Guinea

Zaire

With today's new additions, the WTO now has 96 members.

Note to Editors

The schedules of the above countries were approved today in accordance with the April 1994 Ministerial Decision on Measures in Favour of Least-Developed Countries. The Decision extended the deadline for these countries to submit their schedules to 15 April 1995.
